About this event

The Resource Centre for Alternative Media and Assistive Technology (R-CAMAT) is a unit that serves the University of Cape Coast on a range of disability issues including specific learning difficulties, disabilities, sensory impairments, mental health difficulties and medical conditions. We offer an accessible and inclusive service and proudly provide equality of services to everyone, regardless of age, disability, gender, gender identity, race, religion or belief.

As part of our advocacy and visibility protocols, the Centre has planned to celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities which is a special time to celebrate their achievements and contributions as well as increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disabilities.

The theme for this year's Global Celebration is The Future is Accessible meaning that we must all, together look towards a future where the barriers which stand in people's ways no longer exist. Working towards an accessible future is everyone's responsibility and therefore envisage a future where persons with special needs would be able to access a building without using stairs, where people can access mainstream classroom and get a job without fear of discrimination.
